Elizabeth and I went to the Virginia Ren Festival in Spotsylvania, VA. It was a lovely trip down through some very beutiful Virginia country side. We had never attended so we did not know what to expect. This is the seventh season for the Faire and it is growing each year. People were extremely nice and very much willing to engage and include "stranger." Our opinion was that there were many more "noble" personas than "commoners" (But did we expect anything else from Virginians!!!)
As the pictures show, it was mostly out in an open field on the property of Lake Anna Winery, Tents housing merchants and food sites and exhibits provided some relief from the hot sun. There was a little shade in the lower part where the Queen was holding court.
Temps had reached 92 degrees by 2:00 so we, clad in our finest leather garb, had just about had it. We had been there since it opened at 10:00 so we saw most of the exhibits and shows. Very much worth the time and effort.

I will put up some more photos as I have time.

p.s. I enjoyed that fact that you could bring peace tied weapons! First time I wore my rapier in public!

Cantankerous... LOL! How exciting to have new ren garb; your wife must be very talented! Good luck on the festival search!
Lady AnamcharaActually, I never went to Ireland... hope I didn't mislead by the pics on my site. But it's one of my dreams and plans to go someday. I just downloaded those pics 'cause I like them! LOL!
Well, my friend, I trust you are well on the mend, as per your note. Take care of yourself.
Until next time,
Anam
